Cesar T. Chavez, M.D.
A diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Dr. Chavez specializes in clear corneal, sutureless cataract surgery, glaucoma laser surgery, pterygium and eyelid surgery. He has been in private practice as an ophthalmologist since 1988.
Dr. Chavez completed his pre-medical studies and earned his medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine in 1977 after attending college at UCLA and Harvard University. He concurrently earned a Masters in Public Health at the University of Washington. His post-graduate training included an internship at Kaiser Foundation Hospital in California, followed by residencies in ophthalmology at the University of Arizona and UCLA's Jules Stein Eye Institute. After completing his residency, he joined a full-time faculty at Jules Stein Eye Institute as an outpatient clinic medical director until 1988.
For three years, Dr. Chavez served as a commissioned officer with the U.S. Public Health Services, who honored him in 1980 with an Achievement Award for Outstanding Performance
Dr. Chavez is highly dedicated to continuing education to stay abreast of the latest developments in the field and offer that cutting-edge expertise to his patients. He has completed more than 80 courses on refractive surgery, corneal surgery, glaucoma management, cataract surgery, ocular trauma, laser eye surgery, facial rejuvenation and many other subjects. In addition, he has published several articles in peer-reviewed medical journals and has been invited to present at numerous society meetings, physician seminars, medical practices, public education events and support group meetings across the U.S.
